Computer-Assisted Language Learning Reflection

In the beginning, I’m not interested in Computer-Assisted Language Learning. I even didn’t know what is the course about? How can the computer assist language learning? In my memory, I think that the computer is used to chat, do the reports, play games and find the information on the website. But never think about how can the computers help us to learn English? Don’t learning English is listening to the teacher in the classroom, memorize vocabulary words, do some homework, go to cram schools, and so the computer in the end has anything to do with learning English?

I have known so many useful website and application in the class, and among all of this I like My ET and Ted the most. First , why I’m interested in My ET? In our everyday life and formal education, we constantly practice reading and listening. We have seldom chance to practice our speaking. So MyET is a good application to assist us to learn English. There are many modes for us to choose. The computer will help you to record what you said, and analysis your speech. It will give you a score and tell you where is the problem about your speech, such as whether reading fluency, reading loudly enough, standard pronunciation and so on. And give you some advices to improve your speech, just like your real English tutor. We can just spend a little time everyday, and keep practice our speaking skill. And it will not be a problem to talk to foreigners, instead of keep them far away.

Second, why I am interested in TED? TED is a website that there are many videos in it. The videos is about the speech and it include many topics. There are many types of videos that you can choose which one you are interested in, and it will also provide you subtitles and transcript. If you can not listen clearly what the speaker is talking about and then you can use the subtitles and transcript. I think it is very useful because it can help you practice your listening and reading and it also provide some knowledge to us. And you can also choose the topics you are interested in that can make you have more motivate to learn English.

It surprises me after I finish the class. Because I have never been able to imagine that computers can help us learn English. There is a lot of information on the internet that can provide us to learn English effectively. We can learn English not only by book or teacher but also can learn it by computers in the feature. I’m glad now that I had went to this class. I think I will learn English easier and happier because I have find another way to learn English and I love it!

And at last, thank you teacher brought us so many useful tools that help us learn English easier!

Technology makes everything become possible. Somethings may not be completed now, but they will come true in the future.Perhaps  the future can not be predict, but there are  unlimited possibilities in the future.Technology can come true, and how about the dream? Technology always comes from human nature.Perhaps the invention of each technology is a dream from one person. So you can do everything you want to do, then you just keep trying. And one day it will come true. Do not hesitate,just do it!

#5 you've got to find what you love

I entered the comprehensive high school.When I was the first grade, I was reading chemistry, biology, history and geography,but I was not interested in those. So when I was a sophomore, I converted to business courses. I am glad I made the decision, because I found I was more interested in business courses. I think it is very painful when you're doing something you don't like. It is important to find out what you really want and what you really love,because you have the power to continue to your goal.You can find it slowly, but you have got to find what you love!
